“And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire.”
Context:In this verse, we find David and his men returning to Ziklag after being rejected by the Philistine commanders to fight alongside them against Israel. Ziklag was the city given to David by King Achish of Gath. This event sets the stage for a significant turning point in David’s life.

Consider the ways in which God had protected them from potentially turning against their own people. Recognize that even though Ziklag was attacked, David and his men were not present at the time. Discuss the significance of God’s timing and how He often works behind the scenes to protect His people.
