In 1 Samuel 9, we are introduced to a man named Saul, from the tribe of Benjamin. Saul was tall, handsome, and searching for his father’s lost donkeys. Accompanied by his servant, they embarked on a journey to find the donkeys but were unsuccessful.
As they grew weary, Saul decided to seek the counsel of a seer, hoping to gain insight into their predicament. Coincidentally, they arrived in the city where Samuel, a prophet of God, resided. God had already informed Samuel that Saul would be the future king of Israel, and upon their meeting, Samuel was instructed by God to anoint Saul as the ruler.
Samuel invited Saul to a feast and honored him by seating him at the head of the table. The next day, Samuel revealed to Saul that the donkeys he had been searching for were found and that God had chosen him to be the king over Israel. Samuel prophesied about the future events that would unfold.
