“And what can David say more unto thee? for thou, Lord GOD, knowest thy servant.”

Historical Context:2 Samuel 7:20 comes after King David expresses his humility and awe before God, acknowledging that God has shown him great favour and has promised to establish his dynasty. David is amazed by God’s faithfulness and responds with gratitude and humility.

David’s Acknowledgment of God’s Knowledge:In this verse, David recognises that God knows him intimately. David acknowledges that God knows him better than anyone else. This acknowledgment highlights the depth of David’s relationship with God and his awareness of God’s omniscience.

David’s Wonder and Gratitude:David’s words reflect his amazement and gratitude towards God. He acknowledges that there is nothing more he can say to God because God knows him completely. David is in awe of God’s faithfulness and his willingness to establish a lasting covenant with him.

Application to Our Lives:2 Samuel 7:20 teaches us about the importance of humility and gratitude in our relationship with God. Like David, we should approach God with a sense of awe and wonder, acknowledging that God knows us intimately. We should also express gratitude for the faithfulness and promises of God in our lives.

Furthermore, this verse reminds us of God’s omniscience. God knows every detail of our lives, including our thoughts, desires, and struggles. This understanding should bring us comfort and assurance that we can fully trust God with every aspect of our lives.
