“Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties.”

This verse is a part of Jacob’s prophetic blessing over his twelve sons before his death. Each son received a specific blessing and prophecy about their future. The verse you mentioned refers to the blessing of Asher.

Asher was the eighth son of Jacob and the second son born to him by Zilpah, Leah’s handmaid. The name Asher means “happy” or “blessed.” In Jacob’s blessing, he speaks of Asher’s prosperity and abundance. Let’s delve deeper into the meaning and significance of this verse.

“Out of Asher his bread shall be fat”: This line suggests that Asher’s land would be fruitful, yielding abundant crops and producing plenty of food. The reference to “fat bread” signifies nourishment and sustenance. It implies that Asher’s descendants would be blessed with fertile land and a bountiful food supply.

“He shall yield royal dainties”: This phrase suggests that Asher’s produce would be of exceptional quality. The term “royal dainties” implies delicacies fit for a king or high-ranking individuals. Asher’s descendants would have the ability to produce luxurious and exquisite food, indicating their prosperity and the enjoyment of fine things.

Overall, this verse portrays Asher’s future descendants as a prosperous and blessed tribe. Their land would be fertile, providing an abundance of food, and they would have the skill and resources to produce lavish culinary delights. The blessings spoken over Asher by Jacob highlight the material blessings and abundance that his offspring would enjoy.

It’s important to note that these blessings were given by Jacob as prophecies, and their fulfilment can be seen throughout the history of the Israelites. The land allotted to the tribe of Asher, in the region of northern Israel, was indeed agriculturally rich and known for its abundance.
