Isaiah 18 in the King James Version of the Bible portrays a prophecy concerning a distant and mysterious land. In this chapter, Isaiah describes a land beyond Ethiopia, along the rivers of Cush, where a powerful nation dwells. This nation is seen as a lofty and widespread people, feared by others. They are compared to a banner lifted high on a mountain, attracting attention from afar.
Isaiah prophesies that messengers will be sent by this nation, in swift vessels, to a people tall and smooth-skinned, across the waters. These messengers are instructed to go to a nation scattered and peeled, to a people meted out and trodden down. The people are urged to present a tribute to the Lord of hosts, who reigns on Mount Zion.
The chapter concludes with a note that when the appointed time comes, the people will offer their tribute to the Lord, who will then establish His dwelling place on Mount Zion.
