Numbers 7:74

Listen to this article

“On the twelfth day Ahira the son of Enan, prince of the children of Naphtali, offered.”

Numbers 7:74 is a verse from the book of Numbers in the Old Testament. The book of Numbers primarily deals with the Israelites’ journey from Mount Sinai to the edge of the Promised Land. It contains various laws, regulations, and accounts of their experiences during this period.

In Numbers 7, we find a detailed description of the offerings brought by the leaders of the twelve tribes of Israel during the consecration of the tabernacle. Each tribal leader presented identical offerings on successive days. Verse 74 specifically mentions the offering made on the twelfth day by Ahira, the son of Enan, who was the prince or leader of the tribe of Naphtali.

Context:This chapter demonstrates the unity and cooperation among the leaders of Israel, as they all contributed to the establishment of the tabernacle and its services. The offerings brought by each leader consisted of six covered carts and twelve oxen, a cart and an ox for every two leaders. These were given for the service of the Levites who were responsible for the tabernacle’s transportation and various tasks.

While this verse may seem like a simple account of a specific offering, it serves as a reminder of the significance of unity, cooperation, and equal participation in the work of God. The tribal leaders, representing their respective tribes, willingly offered their contributions and resources for the service of the tabernacle.

Leadership:This passage also highlights the importance of leadership. Ahira, as the prince of the tribe of Naphtali, took the responsibility to make the offering on behalf of his tribe. Leaders play a crucial role in leading by example, taking initiative, and ensuring the participation and dedication of their people.

As we reflect on Numbers 7:74, we can draw lessons about unity, cooperation, equal participation, and the responsibility of leaders in the work of God. It encourages us to contribute our resources and talents for the service of God and His purposes, working together with others to achieve common goals.
