- Seeking God’s Guidance:Saul’s actions in consulting the medium were in direct disobedience to God’s commandments. As believers, we are called to seek God’s guidance through prayer, His Word, and the leading of the Holy Spirit. Turning to occult practices or seeking answers outside of God’s ordained means is not the path we should follow.
- Consequences of Disobedience:Saul’s disobedience led to severe consequences. He had already lost God’s favour and now he received a message of impending doom from Samuel. This event further highlights the importance of obedience to God’s commands and the consequences that can follow when we choose to go against His will.
- Dependence on God:Saul’s lack of strength due to not eating reflects the importance of relying on God’s strength in our lives. We are reminded of Jesus’ words in Matthew 4:4, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” Our true sustenance comes from the Word of God and our relationship with Him.
