1 Kings 7:51

Posted on 10 Feb at 22:21

So was ended all the worke that king Solomon made for the house of the Lord: and Solomon brought in the things which Dauid his father had dedicated, euen the siluer, and the gold, & the vessels did he put among the treasures of the house of the Lord. 1 Kings 7:51 (KJV)

All the work that King Solomon undertook for the house of the LORD was brought to completion, and he brought in the things which his father David had dedicated—silver, gold, and the vessels—and placed them among the treasures of the house of the LORD. Solomon’s work for the house of the Lord is presented as the building of the magnificent temple in Jerusalem, a structure set apart for the worship of God. The completion of the temple signifies the fulfillment of Solomon’s dedication and his commitment to the divine project.

The verse also records David’s contribution. Although David was not permitted to build the temple himself, he prepared the materials and made arrangements for its construction. He set apart treasures—silver, gold, and vessels—as offerings for the house that his son would later erect. David’s deep desire to honor the Lord is evident in the careful preparation of these valuable items.

Solomon placed these precious items among the treasures of the house of the LORD. By storing the silver, gold, and vessels within the temple, the Israelites demonstrated reverence and honor toward God. The act of preserving and dedicating these resources underscores their purpose for service and worship within the holy sanctuary.

This verse highlights the successful completion of the temple’s construction and the dedication of the treasures and offerings to the service of God. It demonstrates the faithfulness of both Solomon and David in their desire to honor and worship the Lord.

In a broader sense, the passage reminds believers of the importance of dedicating our resources, time, and efforts to the service of God. It encourages us to offer our best to Him and to recognize that all our possessions ultimately belong to the Lord. Moreover, it teaches the value of passing on a legacy of faith to future generations, just as David prepared the materials that Solomon would use to build the temple. Overall, the verse serves as a reminder of the significance of the temple’s completion and the dedication of resources to the service of the Lord.
