So Jehu rode in a chariot, and went to Jezreel; for Joram lay there. And Ahaziah king of Judah was come down to see Joram.

Context
Jehu was a military commander anointed king over Israel by a young prophet sent from Elisha. That anointing was a divine commission to end the house of Ahab and remove the idolatry that had corrupted the nation. Jezreel was the site of Ahab’s former palace, and Joram, Ahab’s son, was there recovering from battle wounds. Ahaziah, king of Judah, had come down to visit Joram, his relative through marriage, since Ahaziah’s mother Athaliah was a daughter of Ahab.
