Ezra 10:34

Of the sonnes of Bani: Maadai, Amram, and Uel, Ezra 10:34 (KJV)

The verse in question records the names of three sons of Bani—Maadai, Amram, and Uel. According to the first draft, the book of Ezra in the King James Version contains ten chapters, and chapter ten comprises forty‑four verses, which would place verse thirty‑four within that structure and thereby confirm the existence of the cited verse. The second draft, however, points out that the King James Version does not actually include a verse numbered Ezra 10:34, suggesting that the reference may be a typographical error or a misunderstanding of the chapter‑verse system. It further notes that the same three names appear in Ezra 2:61‑63 and in Nehemiah 7:63‑65, indicating that the information is present elsewhere in the biblical record.

Both drafts therefore agree that the sons of Bani are listed among the returning exiles and that the names Maadai, Amram, and Uel are part of the genealogical listings that restore family lines after the Babylonian captivity. The discrepancy in numbering underscores the importance of careful citation and verification when studying the Scriptures. Readers are encouraged to compare the passages in Ezra chapter two and Nehemiah chapter seven with the alleged Ezra 10:34 reference to see how the same data are presented in different sections of the text.

This situation illustrates a broader lesson for biblical study: chapter and verse divisions, while helpful for locating passages, are not part of the original manuscripts and can vary between translations and editions. Consequently, scholars must remain vigilant for possible mis‑references and should always cross‑check the cited verses against reliable biblical concordances or digital tools. By doing so, one ensures that the study remains accurate, respects the integrity of the biblical record, and honors the careful work of those who compiled the King James Version.
