Ye shall haue iust ballances, and a iust Ephah, and a iust Bath. Ezekiel 45:10 (KJV)

Context: The book of Ezekiel is a prophetic book in the Old Testament, and it contains messages from God to the exiled Israelites.

In this particular passage, Ezekiel is providing instructions for the prince and priests concerning the sacred precinct and measurements.

In this particular passage, Ezekiel is describing the future division of the land of Israel among the tribes and the regulations for the priests and the prince.

Note: the wording of this verse appears in many modern translations of Ezekiel 45:10; the King James Version renders the verse differently.

Justice in Measurements: In Ezekiel 45:10, the Lord emphasises the importance of just measurements.

The terms “balances,” “ephah,” and “bath” refer to various units of measurement.

This verse is highlighting the requirement for fairness and integrity in commercial transactions and everyday life.

Fairness and Integrity: God desires His people to be fair and honest in all their dealings.

This principle applies not only to business transactions but also to personal relationships and interactions with others.

Just as physical measurements need to be accurate, our actions and words should reflect integrity and honesty.

God’s Standard of Justice: The emphasis on just measurements in this verse reflects God’s character and his desire for justice.

Throughout the Bible, God reveals Himself as a just and righteous God who expects His people to follow His example.

As followers of God, we are called to reflect His justice and righteousness in our lives.

Application: Ezekiel 45:10 teaches us several important lessons.

It reminds us to uphold fairness and integrity in all areas of our lives, including our interactions with others and our business dealings.

We should strive to be people of honesty and integrity, following God’s standard of justice.

This verse also challenges us to examine our own hearts and ask if we are practising fairness in our daily lives.

Spiritual Application: While the verse primarily addresses physical measurements, we can also draw a spiritual application from it.

As believers, we are called to have a balanced and just perspective in our spiritual lives.

We should measure ourselves against God’s standard of righteousness, ensuring that our thoughts, actions, and beliefs align with His truth.
