Micah 2:13

Posted on 18 May at 14:18
Listen to this article

“The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD on the head of them.”

Context:Micah was a prophet in the Old Testament who delivered God’s messages to the people of Israel during the reigns of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah. In this verse, Micah prophesies about a future deliverance and restoration of God’s people.

Symbolic language:Micah uses vivid imagery to describe the deliverance of God’s people. The “breaker” refers to a powerful force that breaks through barriers and obstacles. This breaker goes before God’s people, paving the way for their liberation. The gates represent the strongholds or obstacles that need to be overcome, and the passing through the gate signifies victory and freedom.

The King:The reference to “their king” in this verse can be interpreted in two ways. In the historical context, it could refer to a human king who would lead God’s people during their restoration. In a messianic sense, it points to Jesus Christ, the ultimate King and Deliverer, who would come from the line of David. Jesus fulfills this role by leading His people to victory and liberation from sin and its consequences.

The Lord on the head of them:This phrase signifies God’s presence and guidance. It suggests that the Lord Himself goes before His people, leading them in their restoration and salvation. It emphasizes the divine intervention and protection provided by God throughout the process.

Application and interpretation:Micah 2:13 reminds believers of God’s faithfulness and His ability to break through any barrier or stronghold in their lives. It assures us that God is the ultimate source of liberation and victory. This verse also points to Jesus Christ as the King who leads His people to freedom and salvation. As Christians, we can find comfort in knowing that God goes before us and leads us on the path of righteousness.
