1 Corinthians 15:27

Listen to this article

“For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith, all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.”

Context:This verse is found within the larger context of 1 Corinthians 15, which is often referred to as the "Resurrection Chapter." In this chapter, the Apostle Paul addresses the resurrection of Christ and its significance for believers.

1 Corinthians 15:27 focuses on the authority and sovereignty of Christ. Let’s break down the verse and explore its meaning:

"For he hath put all things under his feet":This statement emphasizes that God the Father has subjected all things under the authority and power of Jesus Christ. The phrase "under his feet" is a metaphorical expression denoting the supreme authority and dominion that Christ possesses over all creation.

This idea is not unique to this verse; it is echoed in other biblical passages, such as Ephesians 1:22: "And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church."

"But when he saith all things are put under him":This phrase refers to God the Father declaring that all things are subjected to Christ. It emphasizes that God has granted Christ authority and control over everything in the universe.

"It is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him":This statement clarifies that there is an exception to the phrase "all things are put under him." The exception is God Himself, who put all things under the authority of Christ. This highlights the hierarchical relationship within the Godhead.

The verse acknowledges that although all things are subjected to Christ, God the Father remains supreme and is not included in the list of things subjected to Christ.

Overall, 1 Corinthians 15:27 emphasizes the authority and sovereignty of Jesus Christ, highlighting His position as the supreme ruler over all creation. While all things are subjected to Him, God the Father remains distinct and supreme.

This verse encourages believers to recognize the exalted position of Jesus Christ and His role in God’s plan of redemption. It underscores the importance of acknowledging Christ’s authority and submitting to His lordship in our lives.
