Listen to this article

“Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.”

Certainly! Here’s a Bible study on

Revelation 3:12 (KJV) states:

Context:

Revelation is the last book of the New Testament and contains visions given to the Apostle John. In chapter 3, John writes letters to seven churches in Asia Minor, including the church in Philadelphia. The verse in question is part of Jesus’ message to the church in Philadelphia.

Overcomers:

Jesus says, “Him that overcometh” will receive the promises mentioned in the verse. The term “overcometh” refers to those who remain faithful to Christ and conquer various challenges and temptations in their Christian walk. It signifies believers who persevere in their faith despite trials and difficulties.

A Pillar in the Temple of God:

The promise to the overcomer is that they will become a “pillar” in the temple of God. A pillar symbolizes stability, strength, and permanence. In ancient times, pillars were used to support buildings. This image suggests that the overcomers will have a secure and permanent place in the presence of God. It signifies their close relationship with Him and their eternal standing in His kingdom.

No More Going Out:

Jesus also promises that the overcomer will “go no more out.” This phrase implies that they will never be cast out or separated from God’s presence. It indicates a permanent and unbroken fellowship with Him. The overcomers will experience the fullness of God’s presence and be secure in their position as His children for eternity.

The Names Written:

Jesus further declares that He will write upon the overcomer the name of God, the name of the city of God (new Jerusalem), and His own new name. This act of writing signifies ownership, identification, and belonging. By having the name of God and the city of God written on them, the overcomers will be identified as citizens of the heavenly Jerusalem, the dwelling place of God. Additionally, Jesus will write His new name upon them, signifying an intimate and personal relationship with Him.

Overall, Revelation 3:12 encourages believers to remain faithful and overcome the challenges they face in their Christian walk. The promises given to the overcomer include a secure and permanent place in God’s presence, unbroken fellowship with Him, and identification as citizens of the heavenly Jerusalem. It emphasizes the rewards of faithfulness and the ultimate fulfilment of God’s promises for those who persevere.
