Revelation 6:7
“And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.”
Context:The Book of Revelation, written by the Apostle John, is a prophetic book that reveals future events and the ultimate victory of Christ. In this chapter, John describes a series of visions related to the opening of the seven seals, which represent different aspects of the end times.
The Fourth Seal:In this verse, the fourth seal is being opened. Each seal represents a significant event or stage in the unfolding of God’s plan. The opening of the seals reveals a sequence of events that lead up to the final judgment and the establishment of God’s kingdom.
The Voice of the Fourth Beast:The voice of the fourth beast, or living creature, is heard after the opening of the fourth seal. These living creatures are described earlier in Revelation (Revelation 4:6-8) as having different faces (a lion, an ox, a man, and an eagle) and representing various aspects of God’s creation. They are in the presence of God and continually worship Him.
“Come and See”:The voice of the fourth beast invites John to “come and see” what is revealed after the fourth seal is opened. This phrase indicates that John is being called to witness the events that will unfold in the vision. It emphasizes the importance of understanding and observing the events that will take place.
Interpretation:The opening of the fourth seal is followed by the appearance of a pale horse, and its rider is Death. This rider, along with Hades, follows him, and they are given authority over a fourth of the earth to kill with sword, famine, pestilence, and wild beasts (Revelation 6:8). This verse symbolizes the widespread devastation and death that will occur during the end times.
Application:The Book of Revelation serves as a reminder to believers that despite the trials and tribulations that may occur in this world, God remains in control. It also serves as a call to repentance and faithfulness, urging believers to live holy and righteous lives in preparation for Christ’s return.
In conclusion, Revelation 6:7 in the King James Version describes the opening of the fourth seal and the voice of the fourth living creature inviting John to witness what is revealed. It symbolizes the devastation and death that will occur during the end times. As believers, we are called to remain faithful and prepared for Christ’s return, living in accordance with God’s will.
