Revelation 17:14

These shal make warre with the Lambe, and the Lambe shal ouercome them: For he is Lord of Lords, and King of kings, and they that are with him, are called, & chosen, and faithfull. Revelation 17:14 (KJV)

This verse belongs to the larger vision of the judgment of the great harlot, a symbol of the corrupt and idolatrous system that opposes God’s Kingdom. In the immediate context, it focuses on the decisive conflict between the Lamb and the forces represented by the beast’s ten horns. The declaration is a powerful affirmation of the Lamb’s ultimate victory.

“These shall make war with the Lamb” identifies the hostile powers arrayed against Christ. The Lamb, a recurring image for Jesus throughout Revelation, signifies His role as the sacrificial Messiah who takes away the sins of the world. The phrase “make war” conveys active, organized opposition to the reign of Christ and His people.

“And the Lamb shall overcome them” assures believers that despite the intensity of the opposition, the Lamb will triumph. This triumph is rooted in the completed work of Christ on the cross and His resurrection, which guarantees His authority to defeat every adversary.

“For he is Lord of lords, and King of kings” underscores the supreme status of Jesus. He is not merely a conqueror among many; He is the ultimate sovereign over all earthly and heavenly authorities. This title affirms His absolute sovereignty and the inevitability of His victorious rule.

“And they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful” describes the people who stand with the Lamb. “Called” indicates that believers have responded to God’s invitation. “Chosen” reflects divine selection for a purpose within His kingdom. “Faithful” highlights the loyalty, perseverance, and obedience required of those who follow Christ. Together, these attributes assure the faithful that they share in the Lamb’s victory and are secure in His eternal reign.
