Deuteronomy 11:7

Listen to this article

“But your eyes have seen all the great acts of the Lord which he did.”

Context:The book of Deuteronomy is a record of Moses’ farewell speeches to the Israelites before they entered the Promised Land. In this particular verse, Moses is reminding the people of Israel about the great acts of God that they witnessed during their wilderness journey.

God’s Great Acts:The verse emphasizes that the Israelites had personally witnessed the great acts of the Lord. Throughout their time in the wilderness, God had performed numerous miracles and acts of deliverance, such as the plagues in Egypt, the parting of the Red Sea, and the provision of manna and water. These acts were meant to demonstrate God’s power, faithfulness, and love for His people.

Remembrance:Moses emphasizes the importance of remembering and acknowledging God’s great acts. By recounting the past experiences, the Israelites were meant to cultivate a sense of gratitude, faith, and trust in God. Remembering how God had delivered them in the past would strengthen their resolve to follow Him in the future.

Personal Application:As believers today, we can also apply this verse to our lives. We have the privilege of looking back at the biblical accounts of God’s great acts, such as the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Additionally, we can reflect on our own experiences of God’s faithfulness and provision in our lives. Remembering God’s past acts can serve as a source of encouragement, strengthening our faith and trust in Him, especially during challenging times.

Gratitude and Trust:Like the Israelites, we should cultivate an attitude of gratitude and trust in God. Remembering His past acts reminds us of His character and His ability to intervene in our lives. It helps us to approach our present circumstances with confidence, knowing that the same God who acted in the past is still with us today.

Sharing Testimonies:Deuteronomy 11:7 also implies the importance of sharing testimonies of God’s great acts with others. By sharing our experiences of God’s faithfulness, we encourage and inspire others in their faith journey. Our testimonies can serve as a powerful tool for evangelism and building up the body of Christ.

In summary, Deuteronomy 11:7 highlights the importance of remembering and acknowledging God’s great acts. The verse encourages us to reflect on God’s faithfulness in the past, cultivating gratitude, trust, and a sense of awe in His character. By remembering and sharing these testimonies, we strengthen our own faith and inspire others in their relationship with God.
