Exodus 25:9

Listen to this article

“According to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it.”

Context:Exodus 25 marks the beginning of God’s instructions to Moses regarding the construction of the tabernacle, which was a portable sanctuary that served as a place of worship for the Israelites during their journey in the wilderness. In this verse, God tells Moses to make everything according to the pattern that He will show him.

The Divine Pattern:The phrase “after the pattern” emphasizes the meticulous detail and specific instructions that God provided for the construction of the tabernacle. God didn’t leave it to human imagination or design; He had a specific blueprint in mind. The tabernacle and its instruments were to be made exactly as shown to Moses by God.

Symbolism and Purpose:The tabernacle served as a representation of God’s dwelling among His people. It was a place where they could worship Him and offer sacrifices. The intricate details and specific instructions conveyed the holiness and reverence that God required. The tabernacle’s design also pointed to spiritual truths and foreshadowed the coming of Jesus Christ and the establishment of a new covenant.

Obedience and Faith:God’s command to follow the pattern is a call to obedience and faithfulness. Moses and the Israelites were to adhere to God’s instructions precisely, without adding or subtracting anything. It required trust in God’s wisdom and guidance. This principle of obedience and faithfulness can apply to our lives today as we seek to follow God’s will and instructions.

Application:Although we may not be building a physical tabernacle, the principle of following God’s pattern is still relevant. As believers, we are called to live according to God’s instructions as revealed in His Word. We are to seek His guidance, obey His commands, and conform our lives to His divine pattern. Just as the tabernacle was a place of worship and encounter with God, our lives should reflect a commitment to holiness and a desire to draw near to Him.

In summary, Exodus 25:9 reminds us of the importance of following God’s pattern and instructions. The construction of the tabernacle was a significant event in Israel’s history, and God provided specific details for its construction. Similarly, in our lives, we are called to obey God’s commands and live according to His pattern as revealed in His Word. Through obedience and faithfulness, we can experience a deeper relationship with God and fulfill His purposes for our lives.
