Exodus 36:16

Listen to this article

“And he coupled five curtains by themselves, and six curtains by themselves.”

Precise Construction:In these verses, we see the detailed and precise construction of the tabernacle. The curtains were skillfully crafted and coupled together to form a unified structure. This attention to detail reminds us of the importance of giving our best to God in everything we do. God appreciates our diligence and excellence in serving Him.

Unity and Diversity:The curtains were joined together in two groups: five curtains and six curtains. Despite being different in number, they were still united to create a complete tabernacle. This illustrates the beauty of unity amidst diversity within the body of Christ. Just as the curtains were distinct yet formed one tabernacle, believers from various backgrounds and gifts can come together to accomplish God’s purposes.

Loops and Taches:The loops and taches (clasps) were used to connect the curtains securely. Similarly, the body of Christ is held together by the bonds of love and fellowship. Each member has a vital role in building up the church, and when we work together, we become a strong and cohesive unit.

Coverings:The tabernacle was covered with rams’ skins dyed red and badgers’ skins. These coverings protected the holy structure within. Spiritually, these coverings can remind us of God’s protection and provision for His people. God is our shield and refuge, and we find safety under His wings.

Holiness and Separation:The tabernacle was a place set apart for worship and the dwelling of God’s presence. It symbolizes the importance of holiness and separation from worldly influences. As Christians, we are called to live holy lives, consecrated for God’s service, and separated from sinful behaviours and attitudes.

The Tabernacle as a Foreshadowing:The entire tabernacle construction and its components foreshadowed Jesus Christ and God’s plan of redemption. The tabernacle points to Jesus, who became the ultimate meeting place between God and humanity. It symbolizes the way to God through Christ’s sacrifice and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in believers’ lives.
