Listen to this article

“And Aaron spake all the words which the Lord had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.”

This verse is part of the narrative in the book of Exodus, where God called Moses to be the deliverer of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt.

In this particular verse, Moses has returned to Egypt with his brother Aaron, who was appointed by God to be his spokesperson.

The verse highlights Aaron’s role in conveying the message and performing the signs before the Israelites.

Let’s explore the significance of this verse and its implications:

Divine Appointment: God chose Moses and Aaron for specific roles in the liberation of the Israelites. Moses was to be the leader and spokesperson, while Aaron would assist him and act as the mediator between Moses and the people. This verse emphasises the importance of divine appointment and how God equips individuals for specific tasks.

God’s Words: Aaron faithfully relayed the message from the Lord to the people. This verse indicates that Aaron spoke all the words that God had given to Moses. It emphasises the authority and reliability of God’s message and the importance of faithful communication.

Signs and Wonders: Along with conveying God’s message, Aaron performed signs and wonders before the Israelites. These miraculous acts served as confirmation of God’s presence and power. The signs were meant to authenticate the message and validate Moses and Aaron’s authority. The miracles displayed God’s ability to deliver the Israelites from slavery and established Moses and Aaron as credible leaders.

Witness of the People: The signs and wonders were performed “in the sight of the people.” This implies that the people of Israel witnessed the miracles firsthand, strengthening their faith and belief in Moses and Aaron as God’s chosen instruments. It also highlights the public nature of God’s work and how it impacted the entire community.

Obedience and Collaboration: Both Moses and Aaron obediently fulfilled their roles. Moses delivered the message given by God, and Aaron faithfully spoke and performed signs before the people. Their collaboration exemplifies the importance of teamwork, obedience to God’s commands, and fulfilling the respective roles and responsibilities assigned to us.
