Exodus 6:28

Listen to this article

“And it came to pass on the day when the Lord spake unto Moses in the land of Egypt.”

This verse is a part of the narrative in the book of Exodus, which describes the events surrounding the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt.

It provides a specific point in time when the Lord spoke to Moses while they were still in the land of Egypt.

To understand the significance of this verse, it is helpful to look at the broader context of the Exodus story.

In the preceding chapters, God called Moses to be the leader and deliverer of the Israelites, instructing him to go to Pharaoh and demand the release of God’s people.

However, Pharaoh repeatedly refused to let the Israelites go, and their bondage and suffering only increased.

This caused Moses and the Israelites to become discouraged and question whether God would truly fulfill His promises of deliverance.

In the midst of their hardship, this verse reminds us that God is faithful and that He spoke directly to Moses on a specific day in the land of Egypt.

It serves as a reminder that even in the darkest times, God is at work and His plans are not forgotten.

This verse also highlights the personal nature of God’s communication with Moses.

It was not a vague or general message, but a direct and specific word from the Lord.

This emphasizes the intimate relationship between God and Moses, as well as God’s involvement in the lives of His people.

Ultimately, the verse sets the stage for the subsequent events in the book of Exodus, where God demonstrates His power through a series of plagues upon Egypt, leading to the eventual release of the Israelites.

It encourages us to trust in God’s timing and purposes, even when faced with adversity.
