“And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not.”
This verse is part of the narrative of Jacob’s dream at Bethel, where he saw a ladder reaching up to heaven with angels ascending and descending upon it. In this dream, God appeared to Jacob and reaffirmed the covenant that He had made with Abraham and Isaac. After waking up, Jacob expresses his realization that God was present in that place, even though he was initially unaware of it.

Similarly, when we become aware of God’s presence in our lives, it can bring about transformation, deepen our faith, and inspire us to live in alignment with His will.

We can develop a habit of acknowledging and seeking God’s presence through prayer, meditation, studying His Word, and actively inviting Him into our daily activities. By doing so, we can grow in our relationship with Him and experience His guidance, comfort, and peace.
Genesis 28:16 invites us to reflect on our own awareness of God’s presence. It encourages us to recognize that even in the ordinary and mundane aspects of life, God is with us. May we, like Jacob, learn to acknowledge and embrace the reality of God’s presence, allowing it to impact and transform our lives.
