Genesis Chapter 7

Summery

In Genesis 7, God instructs Noah to enter the ark with his family and a selection of animals, as the time for the great flood has come. God tells Noah that because he is righteous, he and his family will be saved. Noah follows God’s commands precisely, gathering two of every kind of animal, both male and female, and bringing them into the ark. Additionally, Noah takes with him seven pairs of clean animals and birds for sacrifice.

After seven days, the floodwaters begin to cover the earth. It rains for forty days and forty nights, and the waters from the heavens and the depths of the earth continue to rise. The flood consumes everything on the earth, including all living creatures not inside the ark.

The floodwaters prevail on the earth for a total of 150 days. During this time, Noah and his family are safe inside the ark, floating upon the waters. The flood is a catastrophic event that wipes away the corrupt and sinful world, while preserving Noah, his family, and the animals entrusted to them.
