Joshua 19:33

Listen to this article

“And their coast was from Heleph, from Allon to Zaanannim, and Adami, Nekeb, and Jabneel, unto Lakum; and the outgoings thereof were at Jordan: Joshua 19:33 (KJV)”

Joshua 19:33 is part of a larger passage in the book of Joshua that describes the allocation of land to the tribe of Naphtali within the Promised Land. The passage details the boundaries of the territory assigned to this tribe.

In this verse, the description begins with the town of Heleph and extends to various locations, including Allon, Zaanannim, Adami, Nekeb, Jabneel, and Lakum. These towns marked the borders of the allotted territory of Naphtali. The verse concludes by stating that the border of Naphtali’s land extended to the Jordan River.

This verse is a part of a larger section in the book of Joshua that documents the division of the Promised Land among the twelve tribes of Israel. Each tribe received a portion of the land as an inheritance. This allocation of land was a fulfilment of God’s promise to the Israelites and a way to establish their settlements in the land God had promised to give them.

While this particular verse may not have a specific theological or moral lesson in itself, it serves as an important part of the historical narrative of the division of the land among the Israelite tribes. It demonstrates God’s faithfulness to fulfil His promises to His people and His concern for providing for their needs.

Studying the entire book of Joshua, including this verse within its context, allows for a deeper understanding of God’s covenant with Israel, His faithfulness, and His guidance throughout their journey to possess the Promised Land.
