Listen to this article

“And then the coast turneth westward to Aznoth-tabor, and goeth out from thence to Hukkok, and reacheth to Zebulun on the south side, and reacheth to Asher on the west side, and to Judah upon Jordan toward the sunrising.”

This verse is part of a larger section in the book of Joshua that describes the allocation of the Promised Land to the various tribes of Israel.

Joshua 19 provides the boundaries and territories assigned to the tribe of Naphtali.

In verse 34, the verse mentions several geographical locations as part of the tribal boundaries.

Let’s explore these locations:

Aznoth-tabor:Aznoth-tabor is believed to refer to a town or region located near Mount Tabor, which is a prominent mountain in northern Israel. This area would have been part of the inheritance of the tribe of Naphtali.

Hukkok:Hukkok is mentioned as a boundary point in Naphtali’s territory. However, there is limited information available about this specific location. It was likely a town or landmark in the region.

Zebulun:The verse states that the boundary reaches Zebulun on the south side. Zebulun was another one of the twelve tribes of Israel, and its territory was situated south of Naphtali’s inheritance.

Asher:The verse states that the boundary reaches Asher on the west side. Asher was yet another of the twelve tribes of Israel, and its territory was located west of Naphtali.

Judah upon Jordan:The verse also mentions Judah upon Jordan toward the sunrising. This refers to the territory of the tribe of Judah, which was situated east of the Jordan River.

Overall, this verse provides specific geographic landmarks and boundaries that delineate the land assigned to the tribe of Naphtali. It highlights the careful division of the Promised Land among the twelve tribes of Israel, as described in the book of Joshua, which was crucial for them to establish their inheritance and dwell securely in the land.
