“But if thou fear to go down, go thou with Phurah thy servant down to the host: Judges 7:10 (KJV)”

God’s Accommodation:God, in His understanding and grace, accommodated Gideon’s fear by allowing him to take his servant, Phurah, with him to the enemy camp. God recognised Gideon’s need for reassurance and provided a solution that would bolster Gideon’s faith.
Lessons from Judges 7:10:
- Fear is natural:Even great men and women of faith may experience fear and doubts at times. Gideon, despite his calling as a judge, still wrestled with fear. It is important to remember that fear itself is not a sin; it is what we do with that fear that matters.
- God’s understanding:God understands our weaknesses and fears. He knows our limitations and is patient with us. Just as God accommodated Gideon’s fear, He is willing to meet us where we are and provide what we need to strengthen our faith.
- God’s reassurance:In times of fear and uncertainty, God provides reassurance. He knows how to speak to each individual’s heart, granting them peace and confidence to overcome their fears. In Gideon’s case, God allowed him to take his servant along as a source of encouragement.
Application:
- Acknowledge your fears:Instead of denying or suppressing your fears, acknowledge them before God. He already knows your heart, and honest communication with Him will lead to a deeper trust and reliance on His strength.
- Seek reassurance in God’s presence:When you face challenges or uncertainties, remember that God is with you. Seek His presence and find comfort in His promises. He will provide the encouragement you need to face your fears with faith.
- Surround yourself with support:Just as Gideon took his servant with him, surround yourself with supportive and encouraging individuals who can uplift you in times of fear. Seek wise counsel and the companionship of fellow believers who can strengthen your faith.
