Micah 3 is a chapter in the book of Micah, a prophet from the Old Testament. In this chapter, Micah condemns the leaders and prophets of Israel for their corruption and injustice. He addresses the heads of the nation, the rulers, and the prophets, accusing them of exploiting their power for personal gain and misleading the people.
Micah begins by denouncing the leaders for their oppressive practices, including violence, bribery, and perversion of justice. He accuses them of despising justice and perverting equity. The rulers, who should have been protecting and guiding the people, are instead involved in dishonest dealings and wicked acts.
Next, Micah criticizes the prophets who proclaim false messages of peace and security, as long as they are paid. He warns that their false prophecies will bring destruction upon the nation and lead to their own humiliation.
In the concluding verses, Micah foretells the destruction of Jerusalem due to the sins of its leaders. The city will be reduced to ruins, and the people will face exile. Despite the bleak picture, Micah assures that God’s presence will not be completely removed from Israel, promising a future restoration.
