“But if they will not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan”
Context:The book of Numbers recounts the events that took place during the Israelites’ journey from Egypt to the Promised Land. In this particular verse, the Israelites were on the verge of entering the land of Canaan, which had been promised to them by God. Moses’ condition for Reuben, Gad, and half of Manasseh was that they must first pass over the Jordan armed and fight alongside their fellow Israelites until the land of Canaan was fully conquered.
