In Numbers 13, Moses sends out twelve spies, one from each tribe of Israel, to explore the land of Canaan that God had promised them. The spies, including Caleb and Joshua, journeyed through the land for forty days, observing its people, cities, and produce. They returned carrying a cluster of grapes so large it required two men to carry it. The spies gave a mixed report, acknowledging the land’s abundance and fertility, but also expressing fear and doubt due to the presence of fortified cities and giants. While Caleb urged the Israelites to trust in God and possess the land, the other spies spread a negative report, causing the people to panic and question their future.
