Whether

any do enquire of Titus,

he is my partner and fellowhelper concerning you: or our brethren

be enquired of, they are the messengers of the churches,

and the glory of Christ. 2 Corinthians 8:23 (KJV)

The apostle Paul wrote this letter to the church in Corinth while addressing the collection of offerings for the poor saints in Jerusalem. In this short verse he commends Titus and other believers who have been sent to assist in the ministry of giving.

Paul describes Titus as his “partner and fellow‑helper” concerning the Corinthians. The language indicates a close, shared responsibility in ministry. Titus was a trusted companion of Paul, working together to spread the gospel and to establish churches throughout the region.

The apostle also mentions other brethren who are “messengers of the churches.” These men represented their local congregations and were entrusted with the reliable delivery of the contributions to Jerusalem. Their selection reflects their faithfulness and the confidence the churches placed in them.

Both Titus and the other messengers are said to be “the glory of Christ.” Their faithful service demonstrates the character and nature of Christ to the world. By delivering the offerings and caring for those in need, they brought honor to the name of Jesus and served as living reflections of His love.

From this verse believers learn several important lessons. First, partnership in ministry is vital; working together with fellow believers yields greater fruit than solitary effort. Second, there is a clear call to support those in need, following the example of the Corinthian generosity. Finally, every action should reflect the glory of Christ, for believers are ambassadors who must honor His name in all they do.

In conclusion, 2 Corinthians 8:23 highlights the significance of partnership, the role of messengers, and the call to manifest Christ’s glory through service. It encourages the church today to cooperate, care for the needy, and represent Christ faithfully in every circumstance.
