2 Kings 9:32

Posted on 18 May at 11:19

And he lift vp his face to the window, and said, Who is on my side, who? And there looked out to him two or three Eunuches. 2 Kings 9:32 (KJV)

The verse is part of the account of Jehu’s revolt against the wicked king Ahab and his descendants in Israel. Jehu had been anointed as king by a prophet, and his mission was to execute judgment on the house of Ahab for their idolatry and wickedness.

In this particular verse, Jehu is inside the city of Jezreel, where King Joram, a descendant of Ahab, is residing. Joram had been wounded in battle, and Jehu had come to confront him. Jehu, known for his zeal and determination, looks out the window and addresses the eunuchs, seeking their allegiance and support.

And he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is there that speaketh to me? and he answered, It is the hand of the LORD.

Two or three eunuchs look out to Jehu from the window. It is unclear from the text whether these eunuchs chose to support Jehu or if they were simply curious about his intentions. However, their presence at the window indicates their willingness to engage with Jehu’s call.

Jehu’s question, “Who is on my side?” implies that he is determined to carry out his mission and wants to identify those who are loyal to him. Jehu’s question reflects his resolute determination to carry out God’s judgment against the wicked king. As believers, we should also be bold and determined in fulfilling God’s purposes in our lives, standing up for righteousness and truth.

Jehu’s question reveals the need to discern loyalty and allegiance. In our own lives, it is essential to identify those who are genuinely supportive and aligned with us, especially in matters of faith. Surrounding ourselves with like‑minded believers can provide strength and encouragement in our journey.

Jehu’s anointing as king was a divine appointment, and his mission was to execute God’s judgment. It reminds us that when God calls us to a specific task, He equips and empowers us for the assignment. We can trust in His anointing and guidance as we walk in obedience to His will.

The eunuchs’ response, whether out of loyalty or curiosity, highlights the importance of engaging those who express interest in our faith. We should be ready to share our beliefs and testify about the work of God in our lives, as it may lead to the transformation and salvation of others.

Overall, this verse in 2 Kings 9:32 illustrates the determination of Jehu in executing God’s judgment and raises lessons about our own boldness, discernment, reliance on God’s anointing, and engaging with those who express interest in our faith.
