Shaalabbin, also called Shaalbim in Judges 1:35, was a city in Dan’s territory. Its exact location is uncertain, but it may have stood in the northern part of Dan’s allotment. Ajalon, also spelled Aijalon, was a city in the Shephelah, the lowland west of the central hill country. This same name appears in Joshua 10:12, where Joshua prayed for the sun to stand still during battle. Later, Ajalon became a Levitical city, as Joshua 21:24 records. Jethlah appears only here in the Bible. Its location and significance remain unknown, though some scholars think it was a small village within Dan’s land.
