And Ahimaaz called, and said vnto the King, All is well. And hee fell downe to the earth vpon his face before the King, and saide, Blessed bee the Lord thy God which hath deliuered vp the men that lift vp their hande against my lord the King. 2 Samuel 18:28 (KJV)

And Ahimaaz called, and said unto the king, All is well. And he fell down to the earth upon his face before the king, and said, Blessed be the LORD thy God, which hath delivered up the men that lifted up their hand against my lord the king.

In this passage we encounter Ahimaaz, the son of Zadok, who is sent to deliver a message to King David amid the conflict between David’s forces and Absalom’s rebellion. Though the situation is dangerous, Ahimaaz remains a loyal supporter of the king and approaches the throne in person.

Ahimaaz’s report to David is concise yet powerful: he declares that “all is well.” He brings the news of victory, specifically that the rebels have been defeated and that Absalom has fallen. By stating that the LORD has delivered up the men who lifted up their hand against the king, Ahimaaz attributes the triumph directly to God’s intervention.

The episode highlights Ahimaaz’s faithfulness and loyalty. Despite the risks involved in entering the royal presence during a time of war, he willingly undertakes the responsibility of conveying the news. His example underscores the biblical principle that true loyalty often requires personal sacrifice and courage, especially when serving those entrusted to us.

Equally important is Ahimaaz’s recognition of God’s deliverance. He does not claim the victory as a product of human effort alone but praises the LORD for rescuing David from his enemies. This acknowledgment reminds believers to give thanks to God for every success and to recognize His sovereign hand in the affairs of men.

Applying this verse to our lives, we are encouraged to remain steadfast in our commitments, whether in family, church, or workplace. Faithfulness should persist even in difficult circumstances, and we should habitually acknowledge God’s role in any breakthrough we experience.

Furthermore, Ahimaaz’s confidence in God’s power invites us to trust in divine provision during trials. Just as he trusted that God would bring about deliverance for David, we can rely on God’s faithfulness to work on our behalf and fulfill His purposes.

In summary, 2 Samuel 18:28 presents Ahimaaz as a model of loyalty, gratitude, and trust. His actions call us to be loyal servants, to give thanks for God’s deliverance, and to place our confidence in the Lord’s ongoing work in our lives.
