“I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.”

This verse is a part of a poetic song of praise that David composed after the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, including King Saul. It is also recorded in the book of Psalms as Psalm 18. The song expresses David’s gratitude and adoration for God’s faithfulness and deliverance in his life.

Calling on the Lord:David begins by affirming his intent to call upon the Lord. This act of calling upon God signifies his reliance on God’s strength, wisdom, and deliverance. It reflects an attitude of humility and trust, acknowledging that David cannot save himself from his enemies, but God can.

God’s worthiness:David acknowledges that the Lord is worthy to be praised. He recognizes God’s greatness, holiness, and sovereignty. David’s declaration of God’s worthiness emphasizes that God alone deserves praise and worship for His mighty acts.

Salvation from enemies:David expresses his confidence that by calling upon the Lord and acknowledging His worthiness, he will be saved from his enemies. This statement reveals David’s past experiences of God’s deliverance and serves as a declaration of faith for future deliverance as well.

This verse teaches us important lessons about prayer, worship, and God’s deliverance. We can apply these lessons in our own lives:

Worship and praise:David’s acknowledgment of God’s worthiness encourages us to praise and worship God in all circumstances. Regardless of our challenges, praising God helps shift our focus from our problems to His greatness and faithfulness.

Trust in God’s deliverance:David’s confident declaration of salvation reminds us that we can trust in God’s faithfulness. Even when we face enemies or difficulties, we can have faith that God is able to save and deliver us according to His perfect timing and plan.

In conclusion 2 Samuel 22:4 (KJV) offers a beautiful expression of David’s gratitude, faith, and trust in God’s deliverance. It serves as a reminder for us to call upon the Lord, acknowledge His worthiness, and trust in His salvation from our enemies.
