2 Kings 13:5

Posted on 18 May at 11:19

(And the Lord gaue Israel a sauiour, so that they went out from vnder the hand of the Syrians: and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents as before-time. 2 Kings 13:5 (KJV)

This verse is part of the account of the reign of Jehoahaz, also known as Joash, who was the king of Israel. He ruled from Samaria after the death of his father Jehu. During this time, the kingdom of Israel faced constant threats and invasions from the Syrians, particularly from Hazael, the king of Syria.

The verse highlights that the Lord gave Israel a savior and showed mercy, turning from His anger because of His compassion. Despite their disobedience and unfaithfulness, God demonstrated compassion toward them and provided a savior for Israel in their time of distress.

The result of God’s intervention was that Israel went out from under the hand of the Syrians, overcoming their enemies and achieving victory. As a result, the children of Israel were able to return to their homes and dwell in their tents as before, restoring their normal way of life and bringing stability and security to the nation.

The verse reminds us of God’s faithfulness and His ability to save His people from both physical and spiritual enemies. It encourages us to trust in God’s deliverance, seek His help in times of trouble, and remain faithful to His commands. Just as God provided a savior for Israel, He offers salvation through Jesus Christ for all who believe. We can find assurance that God is with us and will fight on our behalf when we face challenges and difficulties in life.
