2 Kings 19:27

Listen to this article

But I know thy abode, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy rage against me. 2 Kings 19:27 (KJV)

Context: The verse is part of a historical account of King Hezekiah’s reign and the Assyrian threat to Jerusalem. The Assyrian king, Sennacherib, had sent a threatening letter to King Hezekiah, mocking the power of God and challenging the faith of the people.

God’s Omniscience: This verse highlights God’s omniscience. Hezekiah had sought God’s help and protection against the Assyrians. In response, God assures Hezekiah that He knows every detail about the Assyrian king’s actions, including his residence, movements, and even his anger against God Himself.

God’s Sovereignty: The verse reminds us of God’s sovereignty and control over all things. Despite the Assyrian king’s arrogance and defiance, God has complete knowledge and understanding of him. God is not caught off guard by human rebellion or opposition, and He remains in control of every situation.

Facing Opposition: Hezekiah faced a formidable enemy, and it appeared that Jerusalem was in great danger. However, this verse serves as a reminder that even in the face of opposition, God is still in control. It encourages us to take our concerns and fears to Him in prayer, trusting that He is aware of everything and can provide guidance, protection, and deliverance.

God’s Protection: In the subsequent verses, God reassures Hezekiah that He will defend Jerusalem and defeat the Assyrians. This serves as a reminder that when we trust in God and seek His guidance, He is faithful to protect and deliver us from our enemies.

Overall, 2 Kings 19:27 reminds us of God’s omniscience, sovereignty, and His ability to protect His people even in the face of great opposition. It encourages us to trust in Him, seek His guidance, and find comfort in His presence.
