1 Chronicles 7:39

Posted on 18 May at 11:32

And the sonnes of Ulla: Arah, and Haniel, and Rezia. 1 Chronicles 7:39 (KJV)

This verse appears in the genealogical account of the tribe of Asher in 1 Chronicles. The chapter provides a detailed record of the descendants of the various tribes of Israel, tracing their lineage from Jacob (Israel) down to their settlement in the Promised Land. In this specific verse we encounter the names of three sons of a man named Ulla: Arah, Haniel, and Rezia. Although the Bible does not give extensive information about these individuals, the genealogies serve an important purpose. They establish and preserve the ancestral heritage of the Israelite tribes, giving each family a place within the larger story of God’s people.

Chronicles as a whole demonstrates the faithfulness of God in fulfilling His promises to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The book emphasizes the importance of remaining faithful to God and His covenant, recounting the history of the nation and highlighting the consequences of both obedience and disobedience. While this particular verse may not contain profound theological or moral teaching, it contributes to the overall narrative of the Israelite tribes’ lineage and their journey as a chosen people.

The genealogical records provide a context for understanding the people and families that comprised Israel, reinforcing their identity and their connection to God’s covenant promises. By preserving even brief entries such as the sons of Ulla, the chronicler affirms that every branch of the family tree has value in the unfolding plan of God, reminding readers that the covenant community is built on the faithful remembrance of each generation.
