1 Chronicles 26:11

Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the thirde, Zechariah the fourth: all the sonnes and brethren of Hosah, were thirteene. 1 Chronicles 26:11 (KJV)

The book of 1 Chronicles is part of the Old Testament and provides a historical account of the genealogies, reigns of kings, and the establishment of worship in ancient Israel. It traces the lineage of various individuals, including the descendants of Aaron, who served as priests in the tabernacle and later the temple.

Amram, who was the father of Moses, Aaron, and Miriam (Exodus 6:20), was a prominent Levite and married his aunt Jochebed. The sons of Kohath (Amram’s father) include Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel (Exodus 6:18; 1 Chronicles 6:18). Izhar’s descendants are not extensively detailed in Scripture. Hebron, as a person, was a son of Kohath and an ancestor of certain Levitical families, though he is distinct from the city of Hebron, which was significant in patriarchal history. Uzziel’s descendants served as priests, musicians, and gatekeepers in the tabernacle and temple.

In 1 Chronicles 26:11, the verse mentions four sons of Amram: Ishar, Hebron, Uzziel, and Shubael. This verse specifically highlights the lineage of Amram, who was the father of Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.

Ishar is not mentioned elsewhere in the Bible, and not much is known about him. Hebron is mentioned in other biblical accounts and is known as a significant city in ancient Israel. It became an important place during the time of the patriarchs, particularly Abraham, who lived there and was buried there along with his wife Sarah.

Uzziel is also mentioned in other parts of the Bible, particularly in the context of the Levites. Uzziel’s descendants played important roles as priests, musicians, and gatekeepers in the tabernacle and later the temple.

Shubael is not mentioned elsewhere in the Bible, and there is limited information available regarding him or his descendants.
