2 Chronicles 31:11

Posted on 18 May at 11:38

Then Hezekiah commanded to prepare chambers in the house of the Lord, and they prepared them, 2 Chronicles 31:11 (KJV)

This verse is part of a larger passage that describes the reforms initiated by King Hezekiah after he ascended the throne of Judah. Hezekiah was a righteous king who sought to restore proper worship and obedience to God among the people of Judah. Before Hezekiah became king, the nation of Judah had drifted away from God and had fallen into idolatry and disobedience. When Hezekiah assumed the throne, he made significant reforms to restore the worship of the Lord and reinstate the Law of Moses.

In 2 Chronicles 31:1, the people of Israel went out to destroy idols and high places across Judah and Benjamin, as well as in Ephraim and Manasseh. In verse 11, Hezekiah commands the preparation of chambers within the temple of the Lord. These chambers were storage rooms dedicated to holding offerings, tithes, and provisions for the temple’s maintenance and the support of the Levites and priests.

Hezekiah’s act of preparing chambers reflects his commitment to order in worship, ensuring resources were properly organized for their intended purposes. This demonstrates stewardship and provision for those serving in the temple, enabling them to focus on their duties without distraction.
