Isaiah 33:6

Posted on 18 May at 15:06

“And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure.”

Isaiah 33:6 (KJV):This verse is found in the book of Isaiah, which is one of the major prophetic books in the Old Testament. It contains messages from God through the prophet Isaiah to the people of Judah and Jerusalem. The book addresses various themes, including the consequences of sin, God’s judgment, and the promise of restoration.

Let’s break down Isaiah 33:6 and explore its key elements:

“And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times”:This verse emphasizes the importance of wisdom and knowledge in providing stability during uncertain times. In the context of Isaiah’s message, the people of Judah were facing political turmoil and the threat of invasion. God is assuring them that possessing wisdom and knowledge will help them navigate through difficult circumstances and maintain stability.

“Strength of salvation”:The phrase “strength of salvation” refers to the power or security that comes from being saved by God. In the face of adversity, the people of Judah are reminded that their ultimate strength and deliverance come from the salvation offered by God. This salvation encompasses both physical and spiritual aspects.

“The fear of the LORD is his treasure”:Here, “the fear of the LORD” refers to reverence, awe, and respect for God. It signifies a deep understanding and acknowledgment of God’s sovereignty and authority. The verse teaches that this fear of the LORD is a precious treasure. It suggests that when individuals revere God and align their lives with His principles, they receive blessings, guidance, and protection.

Overall, Isaiah 33:6 encourages the people of Judah (and believers today) to seek wisdom and knowledge, relying on them as a foundation for stability in challenging times. It reminds them that true strength and salvation come from God, and a genuine reverence for Him is of great value.

This verse also has broader applications for believers today. It reminds us of the importance of seeking wisdom and knowledge, not just in the secular sense but also in our understanding of God’s Word. It teaches us to rely on God’s strength for our salvation and to cultivate a deep reverence for Him, recognizing His authority and seeking to align our lives with His will.

By studying and applying the lessons from Isaiah 33:6, we can gain insight into how to navigate difficulties with stability, find strength in God’s salvation, and treasure a deep and reverent relationship with Him.
