Jeremiah 36:18

Posted on 18 May at 15:01
Listen to this article

“Then Baruch answered them, He pronounced all these words unto me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book.”

Context:In this verse, Baruch, the scribe and faithful companion of the prophet Jeremiah, responds to a group of officials who inquire about the origin of the written scroll containing the prophecies of Jeremiah.

This incident takes place during the reign of King Jehoiakim of Judah, when Jeremiah is unable to personally proclaim his messages due to his confinement.

Jeremiah had dictated his prophecies to Baruch, who diligently wrote them down using ink on a scroll. Baruch’s response indicates that he faithfully recorded all the words that Jeremiah spoke to him.

This reveals Baruch’s commitment and obedience to God’s message, as he accurately preserved the divine revelations despite the challenging circumstances surrounding them.

There are several key points we can draw from this verse:

  • The importance of faithful recording:Baruch played a vital role in preserving God’s Word by accurately writing down Jeremiah’s prophecies.
  • The partnership between Jeremiah and Baruch:The collaboration between Jeremiah and Baruch demonstrates the interdependence and teamwork that can exist within God’s purposes.
  • The power of the written word:The fact that Jeremiah’s prophecies were written down emphasizes the enduring impact and authority of the written Word of God.

Overall, Jeremiah 36:18 highlights the role of faithful recording, the significance of collaboration in fulfilling God’s purposes, and the power of the written Word of God.
