Listen to this article

“And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,”

Background: The book of Ezekiel is part of the Old Testament and is attributed to the prophet Ezekiel. He prophesied during the Babylonian exile, when the Israelites were taken captive by Babylon. Ezekiel received visions and messages from God, which he shared with the people of Israel.

Context: Prior to chapter 6, Ezekiel received various visions and messages from God, warning the Israelites about their rebellion, idolatry, and impending judgment. The Lord had shown Ezekiel the abominations being committed by the people, leading to God’s anger and desire for justice.

Verse Analysis: In Ezekiel 6:1, the prophet begins to describe another instance when the word of the Lord came to him. This phrase signifies that God is communicating directly with Ezekiel, revealing His message or instructions.

Significance: The phrase “And the word of the LORD came unto me” is a recurring theme in the book of Ezekiel. It emphasizes the divine inspiration and authority behind Ezekiel’s prophecies. It highlights the intimate relationship between God and His chosen prophet, as Ezekiel serves as the vessel through which God’s message is conveyed to the people.

  • Overall, Ezekiel 6:1 serves as a reminder of the prophetic calling of Ezekiel and the significance of God’s direct communication with His chosen servants. It encourages us to be open to God’s word and ready to respond to His leading in our lives.
