Ezekiel 37:15

Listen to this article

“The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,”

Context:Ezekiel was a prophet during the time of the Babylonian exile when the Israelites were taken captive to Babylon. In this chapter, Ezekiel has a vision of a valley of dry bones, which symbolizes the spiritual deadness and hopelessness of the nation of Israel. God commands Ezekiel to prophesy to the bones, and they come to life, representing the restoration and revival of Israel.

Divine Communication:In verse 15, the phrase “The word of the LORD came again unto me” indicates that Ezekiel is receiving a new message from God. Throughout the book of Ezekiel, the prophet frequently receives direct messages from God, and it signifies the authority and importance of the words that follow.

Divine Authority:The fact that the word of the Lord came to Ezekiel reveals the divine authority behind his prophecies. Ezekiel did not speak on his own behalf but served as a messenger of God’s word. This emphasizes the importance of obedience to God’s instructions and the significance of the message conveyed.

God’s Initiative:The phrase “The word of the LORD came again unto me” also highlights God’s initiative in initiating communication with Ezekiel. It demonstrates that God is actively involved in the lives of His people and continues to reveal His will and purpose to them. It reminds us that God takes the first step in reaching out to His people, even when they are in a state of spiritual deadness.

  • Abishai:is not present in this text, however the phrase “The word of the LORD came again unto me” is the focus.
