Ezekiel 28:26

Listen to this article

“And they shall dwell safely therein, and shall build houses, and plant vineyards; yea, they shall dwell with confidence, when I have executed judgments upon all those that despise them round about them; and they shall know that I am the Lord their God.”

This verse is part of a prophecy delivered by the prophet Ezekiel against the ruler of Tyre, but it also contains a broader message that speaks to the restoration and security of God’s people. Let’s break it down:

“And they shall dwell safely therein”:This phrase refers to God’s people living securely in their land. It signifies a time of peace and protection when they can reside in their homes without fear or threat.

“And shall build houses, and plant vineyards”:These activities symbolize the restoration and prosperity of the people. Building houses and planting vineyards are actions associated with stability, growth, and productivity. It indicates a time when they will enjoy the fruits of their labor and experience abundance.

“Yea, they shall dwell with confidence”:This phrase emphasizes the confidence and assurance that God’s people will have in their dwelling place. They will trust in God’s protection and provision, knowing that He is watching over them.

“When I have executed judgments upon all those that despise them round about them”:Here, God promises to bring judgment upon the enemies and oppressors of His people. It highlights the justice of God and His commitment to defending His people against those who despise and harm them. This judgment serves as a vindication of God’s people and a demonstration of His power.

“And they shall know that I am the Lord their God”:Through the execution of judgments and the fulfilment of His promises, God’s people will recognise and acknowledge Him as their Lord and God. The restoration, security, and deliverance they experience will serve as a testimony to God’s faithfulness and sovereignty.
