Context: The book of Daniel is set during the Babylonian captivity when Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, conquered Jerusalem and took the Israelites captive. Daniel and his friends, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, were among the captives who served in the king’s palace.
