John 1:3

Posted on 18 May at 14:38
Listen to this article

“All things were made by him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.”

The Role of Jesus in Creation:John 1:3 affirms that Jesus Christ was involved in the creation of all things. It states that “all things were made by him.” This echoes the opening verse of the Gospel of John, which declares, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1). The “Word” refers to Jesus Christ, who existed from the beginning and played an active role in the creation of the universe.

Jesus as the Divine Creator:The verse further emphasizes that nothing came into existence apart from Jesus Christ. It says, “without him was not any thing made that was made.” This highlights the divine nature of Jesus as the Creator. It asserts that every created thing owes its existence to Jesus and that nothing exists independently of Him.

Implications for Believers:Recognising Jesus as the Creator has profound implications for believers. It highlights His preeminence and authority over all things. As the Creator, Jesus possesses supreme power and wisdom. It also underscores the significance of Jesus’ redemptive work. The one who created all things is the same one who came to reconcile humanity to God through His life, death, and resurrection.

Appreciating God’s Handiwork:Contemplating Jesus’ role in creation can lead us to appreciate the beauty and complexity of the world around us. From the vastness of the cosmos to the intricacies of life, everything bears the imprint of the Creator. As we recognise Jesus’ involvement in creation, we are invited to marvel at His handiwork and respond with awe and gratitude.

In summary, John 1:3 presents Jesus Christ as the active agent in creation. It asserts that all things were made by Him and that nothing came into existence apart from Him. This verse underscores Jesus’ divine nature as the Creator and highlights His preeminence and authority over all things. It also invites believers to appreciate and marvel at the beauty of God’s creation.
