Romans 15:32

Posted on 18 May at 14:31

“That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.”

Context:To understand the verse better, let’s look at the context of Romans 15. The Apostle Paul wrote this letter to the church in Rome, expressing his desire to visit them and share the gospel. In this particular verse, Paul expresses his longing to come to them with joy and be refreshed by their company.

Joyful Fellowship:Paul desired to visit the believers in Rome with joy. This reveals his genuine affection for the believers and his desire to strengthen their faith. Joyful fellowship among believers is important in the Christian life. It builds unity, encourages one another, and brings joy to both the individual believers and the entire church community.

The Will of God:Paul emphasizes that his visit to the Romans would happen “by the will of God.” This demonstrates Paul’s understanding that all things, including his plans and journeys, are subject to God’s sovereignty. It is a reminder to seek God’s guidance and surrender our plans to His will. Acknowledging and aligning our desires with God’s will helps us walk in obedience and experience His blessings.

Mutual Refreshment:Paul expressed his desire to be refreshed with the believers in Rome. This mutual refreshing highlights the importance of community in the Christian faith. Believers are called to support and encourage one another, providing a source of spiritual refreshment. When we gather with fellow believers, we have the opportunity to share our burdens, learn from each other, and find encouragement in our journey of faith.

Application:Romans 15:32 teaches us several important lessons. Firstly, it reminds us to prioritise joyful fellowship with other believers. Investing time in building relationships with fellow Christians can bring great joy and spiritual growth. Secondly, it encourages us to seek and submit to God’s will in our plans and actions. By aligning our desires with His purposes, we can experience His guidance and blessings. Lastly, the verse emphasises the significance of mutual refreshment within the Christian community. As we support and encourage one another, we create an environment that strengthens and uplifts all believers.
