Exodus 39:33

And they brought the tabernacle unto Moses, the tent, and all his furniture, his taches, his boards, his bars, and his pillars, and his sockets,

Exodus 39:33 (KJV)

This verse records the moment when the completed tabernacle and all its parts were brought to Moses. The people had finished the work exactly as the LORD commanded, and now they presented it for his inspection. This event is part of the larger story of Israel’s journey from Egypt to the Promised Land.

The tabernacle was a portable sanctuary that showed God’s presence among His people. God gave Moses detailed instructions on Mount Sinai, and the Israelites followed them with care. The list of items in this verse includes the tent, its furniture, taches (hooks or clasps), boards, bars, pillars, and sockets. These were the parts that made the tabernacle strong and easy to move.

Moses was the leader whom God chose. He had received the pattern for the tabernacle from God, so he could check that everything was made correctly. This inspection was part of the process before the tabernacle was set up and consecrated, as described in Exodus 40.

The detailed list of parts shows the order and precision that God required. Nothing was left to chance or human preference. Every hook, board, and socket had a purpose. This teaches that God cares about the details of worship and service.

The verse also emphasizes accountability. The people did not simply finish the work and walk away. They brought it to Moses, who examined it. This was a way of honoring God and ensuring that the work matched His commands.

The unity of the community is also visible here. Many people contributed different skills and materials, but all the parts were brought together to one place. The tabernacle was not the work of one person but of the whole nation.

The tabernacle foreshadows Jesus Christ, who became the dwelling place of God among humanity (John 1:14). Just as the tabernacle was the place where God met His people, Jesus is the way to God today. The care and obedience shown in building the tabernacle point to the perfect obedience of Christ.

In the New Testament, believers are called the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19). This means that God’s presence now lives in each Christian. The same holiness and care that marked the tabernacle should mark our lives.

We can learn to obey God faithfully, even in small matters. The Israelites followed God’s precise instructions, and we should seek to follow His Word in every area of life. Obedience brings blessing and draws us closer to Him.

We can also value accountability. Just as the work was brought to Moses for inspection, we can welcome godly oversight in our service. This helps us stay faithful and correct mistakes early.

We can recognize God’s presence with us. The tabernacle was a visible sign of God with Israel. Today, we trust that God is always with us through the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:20). This truth gives us comfort and strength.

We can live as temples of the Holy Spirit. Since God dwells in us, we should honor Him with our bodies and actions. Our lives should reflect His holiness and love.

This verse reminds us that God’s work is accomplished through faithful obedience and that every detail matters in His service. When we serve God with care and humility, we join the long line of faithful people who have built His kingdom. Let us bring our work to Him, trusting that He will inspect it with love and guide us in His ways.
