Acts 20:18

“And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons.”

This verse is part of a larger passage in Acts 20 where the apostle Paul is addressing the elders of the church in Ephesus. He had summoned them to meet him in Miletus, as he was on his way to Jerusalem. This passage is commonly known as Paul’s farewell address to the Ephesian elders.

In verse 18, Paul acknowledges the presence of the elders and reminds them of his previous interactions with them. He affirms that they are aware of how he conducted himself since the first day he arrived in Asia. Paul’s intention in recalling this information is to establish credibility and to remind them of his faithful service and commitment to the Gospel.

This verse also indicates that Paul’s relationship with the Ephesian elders was not a superficial or occasional one. He had been with them consistently and faithfully, investing time and effort in teaching, guiding, and shepherding them.

Overall, this verse emphasizes Paul’s faithfulness, consistency, and dedication to the ministry entrusted to him. It serves as a reminder to the elders of his commitment and serves as a foundation for the subsequent exhortations and instructions that he delivers in his farewell address.
