Acts 21:5

Listen to this article

“And when we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed.”

This verse is part of a larger passage that describes the apostle Paul’s journey to Jerusalem. In the preceding verses, Paul and his companions had been travelling to different cities, spreading the Gospel and ministering to the believers.

In Acts 21:5, Paul and his companions had completed their stay in Tyre. As they prepared to leave the city, the local believers accompanied them, including their wives and children, to see them off. It was a heartfelt farewell as they all walked together until they reached the outskirts of the city.

Upon reaching the shore, Paul and his companions kneeled down and prayed together. This act of prayer was likely an expression of gratitude for the time they had spent with the believers in Tyre and a request for God’s guidance and protection as they continued their journey.

This verse highlights the strong bonds formed within the early Christian community and the support and care they extended to one another. It demonstrates the unity and fellowship among believers as they journeyed together in faith. It also emphasises the importance of prayer as a means of seeking God’s will and seeking His guidance in all aspects of life.

Overall, Acts 21:5 provides us with a glimpse into the apostle Paul’s missionary journey and serves as a reminder of the significance of prayer and the importance of community in the life of a believer.
